Executive Board

  • Atiya Chiphe

    Co-President

    Atiya is a member of the Class of 2026, studying Political Science with minors in Sociology and African & African American Studies. She is passionate about storytelling, especially when it comes to voices that have been historically marginalized. Working on this project has deepened her commitment to understanding the systems we inherit and imagining something better.

  • Kerrigan Ferland

    Co-President

    Kerrigan is a member of the Class of 2026, double majoring in Political Science and Literature with concentrations in Comparative Politics and Creative Writing, and plays soccer for the WashU Women's Soccer team. She believes this project is important for allowing voices to be heard through creative freedom and raising awareness. Creative writing is an important tool to be used and she believes this magazine will highlight that fact. 

  • Estefhany Hernandez

    Vice-President

    Estefhany Hernandez is member of the Class of 2027, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. She is interested in working and advocating for  communities that have impacted her greatly. In her free time, she likes to attend concerts and spend time with her friends. Through Itero, she hopes to contribute positively to the St. Louis community.

  • Neil Chavan

    Editor-in-Chief

    Neil is a political science major from Newton, Massachusetts. He believes in the power of storytelling, and as current editor-in-chief, looks forward to platforming these incredible ideas, stories, and creators, and helping them achieve the recognition they deserve. Neil hopes to continue working in the realm of prison justice after law school, which he is applying for in the fall. Neil is beyond grateful to be a part of such a profound project, and cannot wait to see how this publication flourishes in the future.

  • Anijah Lloyd

    Anijah is a junior majoring in Sociology with a minor in Legal Studies. At Washington University, Anijah is involved in many different extracurriculars such as being Head Choreographer for Black Anthology, Co-Event Coordinator for Black Women and Femmes Collective, and being Alumna of WashU’s oldest Sophomore Honorary, Lock and Chain. Following her time at WashU, Anijah intends to attend law school to pursue a career in Criminal Law to conquer injustices that not only face our Criminal Justice system as a whole, but specifically the injustices that affect our most discriminated groups in our country. Being a born and raised Chicagoan, she loves to roller skate, dance, and enjoy all types of food, especially if it’s from Chicago! Anijah is a part of the Literary Team and cannot wait to see what impact Itero can have! 

  • Arielle Hatton

    Arielle is a senior majoring in political science and hopes, one day, to be a defense attorney. She is passionate about the criminal justice system as well as understanding the injustices that exist within it. Arielle believes this project is important in shining a spotlight on the people so often overlooked by the system. 

  • Kayla Nafso

    Kayla is a member of the Class of 2028, studying Political Science and Philosophy: Law and Policy with a minor in Legal Studies. She has a deep commitment to giving a platform to those who society silences, especially the individuals who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Through Itero, she hopes to create a space for marginalized communities to share their experiences that shed light on the realities of the criminal justice system.  

  • Tali Greenfield

    Tali is a sophomore studying Political Science with minors in the Business of Social Impact and Middle Eastern Studies. Believing that people are much more than their worst deed, she is excited to work with Itero to affirm the worth and voices of people impacted by the criminal justice system.

  • Colette Correa-Bruzzese

    Colette is a junior from Albuquerque, New Mexico majoring in International Affairs and Latin American Studies with a minor in Spanish. Throughout her time at WashU, Colette has discovered the importance of forming and strengthening community. Her passion for prison reform motivated her to join Itero, and she hopes that the publication helps to advance those values. She is proud to be part of such an impactful organization and is looking forward to learning and sharing diverse stories.

  • Bella Gomez

    Bella is a senior studying Global Studies and Latin American Studies with a minor in Educational Studies. She is from Miami, Florida and is excited to be involved with Itero because it provides an incredible opportunity to amplify the voices of incarcerated individuals through art and writing. Bella is passionate about contributing to a platform that fosters understanding and social change.
